Filing a claim can be very stressful. Here at Protégé Insurance Brokers, Inc., we can assist you how to file a claim. Below a general guideline of how the process works:
1) Acknowledge a Loss
You need to acknowledge the type of loss (liability, professional, property, auto or workers' compensation insurance) and locate the appropriate policy information. When a loss or potential claim has occurred, you need to take steps necessary steps to mitigate or minimize the loss.
2) Contact Authorities
Please contact the appropriate authorities (police, fire, ambulance) or emergency services (restoration or cleaning) to contain the loss. If it is life threatening situation, please seek immediate medical attention. If there is severe property damage, please contact fire department or emergency services company to secure the property.
3) Report the Claim
You can contact Protégé Insurance Brokers to report on your behalf or you can report the claim directly to the insurance carrier. To expedite the claim process, please complete our claims form located on top-right corner of this page to the corresponding type of claim and email to claim@protegebrokers.com or fax it in to (619) 275-2342.
4) Claims Confirmation
Insurance carrier will send a letter to confirm a claim has been filed and assign a claims adjuster and claims number. Protégé Insurance Brokers will also receive a copy of the confirmation. If needed, the claims adjuster will assign a field insurance adjuster to inspect the loss.
5) Claims Status
Each claim is different. Some claims may only take a few days to settle while others may take months. As with any claims, the claims adjuster will review all relevant facts, reports, and policy information pertaining to case to determine the cause of the loss. As your claims liaison, we will keep you informed on the progress and status of your claim. If your insurance carrier has claims status online, you may login and track the claim (if available).
6) Close a Claim
If a loss is covered under the policy terms, the claims department will issue reimbursements or payments to you or parties involved. If a loss is determined as not covered, then a detailed letter will explain why the loss is not covered.
